Forestry Mulcher Rental in Fort Worth, TX

Where the West begins, and where the mesquite begins with it. Fort Worth work runs from urban pads to genuine rangeland inside a half-hour drive.

Two ecoregions, one city

Fort Worth sits on the line the region is named for. East of the city the Eastern Cross Timbers carry post oak and blackjack oak on sandy soil; west of it the Fort Worth Prairie opens out and mesquite takes over. Those two jobs behave nothing alike. Post oak is slow, dense grinding that rewards horsepower, while mesquite is thorny, multi-stemmed and low, with root crowns that will stall a machine that is only powerful on paper. Knowing which side of town a tract sits on tells you more about the day rate than the acreage does.

Post oak grinds, mesquite grabs

Mesquite rangeland is CMI 175 country: simple, tough, and productive in thorny brush. Development phases at scale, and hard-deadline industrial work, justify the high-HP fleet.

Rent the machine, or hire it done

Fort Worth is really two rental markets. Ranch and rangeland work west of the city is acreage work that rewards a high-HP machine on a monthly rental. Subdivision phases and industrial site prep in and around the city are scheduled work that suits weekly or monthly. Smaller recreational and ranch cleanup jobs go turnkey at $3,000 a day with transport included. Which side of the city you are on changes the answer more than the acreage does. The rent vs hire guide sets out the trade.

Fort Worth and Tarrant County questions

Look at the soil and the trees. Sandy ground with post oak and blackjack means you are in the Eastern Cross Timbers, east and north of the city. Heavier ground opening out with mesquite and prickly pear means you are on the Fort Worth Prairie to the west. It matters because the two clear at very different rates — post oak is dense, slow grinding that rewards horsepower, while mesquite is lower, thorny and multi-stemmed. Tell us which you have and the day-rate estimate will actually hold.

Yes. Mesquite resprouts from a root crown below the soil surface that no mulching head reaches, so west of the city a pass is a reset rather than a cure — open, usable ground with nothing to burn or haul, and regrowth to manage afterwards. Post oak east of the city behaves differently and does not come back the same way. Plan follow-up treatment on the prairie side and budget for it at the start.

On open prairie mesquite, three to five acres a day with a high-HP dedicated machine, more where the stand is light. In dense post oak, expect meaningfully less — it is hard, continuous material and production drops. The CAT 275 XE runs closer to half an acre to an acre and a half a day in either, which is why it belongs on lanes, lots and access rather than acreage.

Rental is $14,000 a week high-HP, $11,000 mid-size, $1,750 a day or $8,000 a week for the CAT 275 XE. Transport within DFW is short. Turnkey is $4,000 a day high-HP plus transport, or $3,000 a day skid steer with transport included.
