About Pierce Equipment Rentals
We rent dedicated forestry mulchers to contractors who can run them, and we run them ourselves for people who would rather hire the work done. Same fleet, two ways to buy it.
What we do
Pierce Equipment Rentals operates a fleet of dedicated forestry mulchers and skid steer mulching packages across Texas. There are two ways to work with us, and we are equally happy with either. You can rent a machine by the day, week, or month and run it with your own qualified operator. Or you can hire turnkey forestry mulching, where we bring the machine, the operator, the fuel, and the maintenance, and you pay for a finished day of clearing.
Why the rental side exists
Most rental yards will not put a dedicated forestry mulcher on a trailer for you. These machines are expensive to own, hard on wear parts, and unforgiving of an inexperienced operator, so what usually shows up instead is a skid steer with a mulching head bolted on: a different production class entirely. We rent the dedicated machines because there is a real population of Texas contractors who can run them and who are otherwise stuck sub-renting or buying outright. If you have the operator, renting is almost always the cheaper path. Our rent vs buy calculator works that math out, including the part most people underestimate: selling these machines can be tough, and a new purchase takes a major depreciation hit the moment it leaves the dealer.
Why the turnkey side exists
The other half of the calls we take come from landowners, homebuilders, and solar and pipeline contractors who have acreage to clear and no forestry operator on staff. Handing them a rented machine would be doing them a disservice. Realistic production from a first-time operator can be half what an experienced one gets, and the rental clock does not care. For those projects we quote turnkey: $4,000 per 8-hour day plus transport for high-horsepower dedicated mulching, or $3,000 per day including transport for skid steer mulching.
How we quote
Acreage, vegetation, access, location, dates. That is the whole conversation. We will tell you on the first call whether renting or hiring is the better number for your project, even when the answer costs us the larger invoice. Insurance requirements are fixed: $500,000 inland marine and $2,000,000 general liability on the dedicated machines, $250,000 inland marine and $2,000,000 general liability on the CAT 275 XE, with Pierce Equipment Rentals named as loss payee and additional insured before anything is delivered. The insurance guide covers how to get certificates issued quickly.
What we will not do
We do not publish production rates we cannot hit, and we do not quote a machine we do not have. Availability moves week to week, so call and we will tell you what is genuinely open and what is already committed. If a project is a poor fit for mulching altogether, we would rather say so than sell you a week of it.
If you have an experienced operator, rent. If you do not, hire it done. We will tell you which one you are.
Call 512-601-6981 or email support@piercelandclearing.com with your scope and we will quote it both ways in the same conversation.
