Four ways to put it to work.

Day rates come with our operator. Weekly and monthly are bare rentals — you supply the operator, the fuel and the transport.

Every rental needs one full preventive maintenance service every 250 meter hours and a new set of genuine OEM FAE teeth at the end. Option A and Option B differ only in who does that work and who pays for it.

What every rental includes.

Hour allowance
176 meter hours per month, or 40 meter hours per week on a weekly rental. Hours above the allowance are billed at $200.00 per hour, calculated at check-in.
Preventive maintenance
Due every 250 meter hours. Who performs and pays depends on the option you elect.
Teeth specification
New, unused, genuine OEM FAE teeth of the correct type for the head. Aftermarket, reconditioned or resharpened teeth are not accepted.
Approved service providers
An authorized Caterpillar dealer, Pierce Equipment Rentals, or Texas Timberjack. No one else.
Cleaning at return
$100.00 per hour, three-hour minimum. The first three hours are included on Option B only; a weekly rental carries no cleaning allowance.
Fuel
Delivered full, returned full. Fuel we supply at check-in is billed at $2.00 per gallon above the AAA Texas average retail on-highway diesel price that day.
DEF
Delivered full, returned full. DEF we supply at check-in is billed at $2.00 per gallon above our documented delivered cost.
Transport
On a bare rental you arrange and pay for the haul both ways and carry the risk in transit. The M860A is an RGN or lowboy load. Send us the address and we will price it alongside the rate.
Holdover
Equipment kept past the return date without a written extension is billed at 150% of the pro-rated daily rate for the first seven days and 200% per day after that.
Not included in any rate
Transport, fuel, DEF, operator, permits, hour overage, cleaning, chargeable damage, and applicable taxes.

Day rates with our operator include fuel, daily service and wear parts, so most of the above does not apply.

Insurance we need before the machine ships.

Hand this list to your agent. Verifying the certificate is usually the one thing that holds up a start date, so start it early.

Inland marine — rented equipment
Not less than the Stated Value of $504,000, all-risk and replacement cost. The per-item limit for rented equipment has to reach that figure; a blanket limit does not count if a lower rented-equipment sublimit applies.
Commercial general liability
$2,000,000 per occurrence and general aggregate, covering land clearing and forestry mulching with no exclusion for that work.
Business auto liability
$1,000,000 combined single limit, owned, hired and non-owned.
Workers compensation
Statutory, with $1,000,000 employer’s liability. A Texas nonsubscriber must tell us in writing before release.
Motor truck cargo
Carried by your hauler, at least the Stated Value, covering the machine in transit.
Endorsements
Pierce Equipment Rentals named loss payee on the equipment coverage and additional insured on general liability and auto; primary and non-contributory; waiver of subrogation; 30 days notice of cancellation by endorsement.

Day rates with our operator need none of this. The machine and the operator run on our policy.

Which one fits your job.

Take the day rate at $4,000 if you do not have an experienced mulcher operator, or the job is a few days rather than a few weeks. You get finished acres instead of machine hours, and there is no certificate of insurance to arrange.

Take the week at $14,000 for a short, well-defined tract where you already have a qualified operator and the insurance in place.

Take Option A at $34,000 if you already buy FAE teeth, have an account with a CAT dealer or Texas Timberjack, and can get the service done without losing days. You are buying the parts and the labor at your cost rather than ours.

Take Option B at $42,000 if you would rather not chase a service appointment and a parts order in the middle of a job. The $8,000 difference covers the teeth and our labor to fit them, it is settled up front, and there is nothing to reconcile at check-in.
